We’ve explained in previous posts about the benefits of building quality links to your website. The more links that point to your site from other quality sites the more of an edge in search engine indexing and ranking you will receive. But links to your site should not all come from other industry related websites or directories. You need to diversify your linking strategy in order to achieve a well-rounded link popularity.
Directories
Submitting your link to quality directories is always a good thing. Google, Yahoo!, and MSN all provide free link submissions to their directories. Find other popular niche directories that are particular to your industry business. You may have to pay for a directory submission to niche sites, but the return can be worth it. You should beware of “link farms” which are simply directories who accept link submissions from anyone. A directory that does not have an editor scanning and filtering the link submissions is probably not the best place for your link.
Write Guest Blogs or Articles
You can make yourself an authority by writing authoritative articles and blog posts for others. Research other popular real estate blogs and websites and ask to be a guest writer. The content you create should be informative and provide value to the reader. And your articles should have a link back to your site.
You can also submit articles to user-generated content sources such as EzineArticles.com and Associated Content. These sites accept articles written “on spec” and agree to publish them if they find that it is something their readers would be interested in. Write a good, solid article, around 500 words. Your article should not be a marketing spiel on why readers should buy from you. Rather, create solid, useful content, and simply link to your site within the articles resource box.
Social Media
Get onboard the Web 2.0 social media train! Become noticed by popularity sites like Reddit.com, Twitter.com, and Digg.com. These sites can drive big traffic to your site if your link is posted frequently by others. Create a free account on these sites. Post your link there and share it with others. The more your link is shared and recommended the more traffic you could push in your direction.
